2017 Joseph Wharton Statesman Dinner

Over 230 people attended the 2017 Joseph Wharton Statesman event on October 12, 2017 at the JW Marriott Brickell. A perfect backdrop of cocktails, champagne and on screen visuals with sponsor commentaries of congratulations to Armando Codina greeted the guests as they happily chatted away. Dinner began promptly at 7:30pm with remarks by President of the Club, Sonia Rodriguez, sharing a little bit of history on Mr. Joseph P. Wharton followed by a warm greeting of Wharton statistics and campus expansion shared by Wharton School Vice Dean of Finance, Harlan Sands.
Guests were seated in complimentary groups of sponsors and Wharton friends. A delicious dinner served by attentive staff was enjoyed peacefully by all. Upon serving dessert, Manny Medina took the stage in a breathtaking, heartfelt account of his long 40 year friendship with Armando Codina. Guests were speechless. Armando was given a standing ovation and his acceptance as Statesman could not have been more perfect. In his speech, Armando made us laugh, made us reflect upon society’s needs and almost made us cry. Thank you Armando Codina, for being the ultimate gentleman in business and in life! All in all, an outstanding event enjoyed by all!
