The art of enjoying and investing in fine wine is not reserved for just the aficionado. Whether sharing a dinner with some of your most discerning clients, attending a special fine dining event, or simply dining with good friends, the art of sharing wine is a pleasure that is part hedonistic and part cerebral. While certain collectors of fine wine invest with the sole intention of selling their wines to achieve “liquid” financial returns in the future, many invest with the intention of never selling their assets, but rather to enjoy their wines later, when they hold a far greater market value and deliver greater pleasure upon being consumed. Simply knowing that you paid $50 for a bottle of wine several years earlier that is now offered on the restaurant menu for $500, certainly delivers the satisfaction of a good investment as you pay your $25 corkage fee and enjoy your meal.
