MOCA Executive Director and Chief Curator Bonnie Clearwater will lead this lively discussion and will cover trends in collecting, starting a collection and tips that all collectors should know.

Biography:

Serving first as curator and then Executive Director and Chief Curator since 1997, Bonnie Clearwater has curated over 55 exhibitions and authored more than 30 scholarly catalogues for MOCA. After 15 years, the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami enjoys a stellar reputation for its bold, original exhibitions, thought provoking programs and under her leadership has become a vibrant center of culture in Miami. She has also shaped the museum’s permanent collection and will soon oversee the expansion of its current facility. Beyond her impact on MOCA, she previously was curator of the Leonard and Evelyn Lauder Collection and advisor of the Peter Norton Family collection, among others and has played a pivotal role in cultivating the arts scene in Miami by seeking out emerging talent, giving many artists their first museum exposure. She is regularly cited by art writers, collectors and gallery owners both here and around the country as one of the more influential and dynamic curators working today. Thanks to her tireless energy and limitless ideas, art and Miami are becoming synonymous.
